Online operates as the digital arm of the Northwestern University Law Review. We feature essays, generally between 5,000 and 9,000 words (but no more than 10,000 words, strictly enforced), on timely and relevant legal issues. In operation since 2006, Online is one of the longest-running online scholarly publications operated by a major law review. Content ranges from short expositions of new ideas, analysis of emerging legal topics, ongoing debates or series regarding legal issues or pending Supreme Court cases, and short responses to already-published scholarship. While the shorter length allows scholars to publish their thoughts within weeks of a new legal development, our rigorous editorial process ensures we maintain the quality of scholarship of our print publication.
